Many poor students are longing for a better living for themselves and their families through education. However their dreams may not come true due to the lack of financial support to finish their study. The Sunflower "Planting the Seed for Caring" Education Fund gives these students a chance to pursuit their dreams. We work with schools and local authorities from economically under-developed areas, to select poor students to sponsor their study on a yearly basis. We pay regular visits to their schools and their families to make sure the sponsorship is used properly on the students’ education and wellbeing. Through exchange of letters, personal relationships are established with the students, so as to provide them with emotional encouragement as well as material support.
 Sponsoring Primary Students in Beijing
Through cooperation with the “Spring Breeze Poverty Relief Action Office” - a non-profit organization under the Beijing Municipal Government, Sunflower has set up “Planting the Seed for Caring” Education Fund to sponsor 40 children from primary schools in Beijing's rural areas on a yearly basis since 2005.
Sponsoring Middle School Students in Beijing
Sunflower “Planting the Seed for Caring” Education Fund has been providing financial assistance to students with excellent academic achievements to finish their school in Beijing Miyun No. 2 High School since 2005. Every year 25 students are selected to receive our financial assistance. With increasing demands, Sunflower has increased the sponsorship to 42 students from 2012 onward.
Sponsoring Primary and Middle School Students in Guizhou
In 2012, the Sunflower “Planting the Seed for Caring” Education Fund was set up in Bijie City, Guizhou Province. With the support from local authorities, a number of students from primary schools are selected and sponsored every year. This is a long term commitment that we continue to sponsor the students’ education needs, as long as they maintain good academic standings and their families continue to need helps. A total of 155 students have been sponsored since 2012. Some of them have graduated from primary school and are attending middle school .
Sponsoring High School Students in Guizhou
Since 2014, Sunflower has established an Education Fund to support the Top 10 high school students in Qi Xingguan District, Bijie City, Guizhou Province. This program is a 7-year commitment to support the best qualified students to complete senior high school and university education. With close cooperation with the local authorities, 13 students with outstanding academic performance, poor family background and a strong will to complete university education, have been selected and sponsored.
Sponsoring High School Students in Yunnan
The Sunflower “Planting the Seed for Caring” Education Fund has been set up in No. 1 Middle School of Xuanwei City, Yunnan Province in 2014. 54 high school students have been sponsored since 2014.
Sponsoring University Students in Beijing and Guizhou
Sunflower has assisted two university students from Beijing and Guizhou respectively to continue their studies since 2011.
An orphan girl from Beijing Miyun No. 2 High School was admitted to Tsinghua University based on her outstanding athletic achievements in February 2011, but she faced losing this opportunity. She completed her high school education with the assistance from her coach, who was unable to sponsor her through college with his limited income. Sunflower makes a commitment to sponsor this girl to complete her 5-year college education.
Since 2012, Sunflower has sponsored another girl from Bijie city, Guizhou Province for her college education. This girl was accepted by Guizhou Normal College in September 2012. Unfortunately, her father passed away that year. Without a regular work, her mother could not afford her study in college. Sunflower sponsored the girl for her college education in 2012 and 2013, until her mother has found a regular job to support her study in 2014.
